This week's Learning in Year 1 at a glance!

Year 1

Learning Link: A Trip Down Memory lane

We will be looking at our local area and what makes it unique.  We will be asking the questions, what makes our community function and successful.  We will look at the passage of time and how our community has changed over the last 59 years.  If you have any memories of this time (the further back the better) or photographs we would love to hear from you.

Maths

Numbers to 50

In this unit, children will count beyond 20 to 50, counting objects as they go. They will learn that it is easier to count in 10s and 1s, rather than just in 1s. They will see common representations to help them count easily, such as ten frames, counters, cubes and egg boxes, etc. Children will notice the patterns in the number count beyond 20, for example, 20, 21, 22 … 30, 31, 32 … 40, 41, 42 … They will look at what digits are the same and what digits are different in these patterns of numbers.
